Home Birth: One of the Greatest Gifts My Wife Ever Gave Me

Home birth. The very idea used to sound, well, "wuwu" and not exactly safe. Like many husbands, I approached this concept with skepticism. But as I look back on our journey, I can confidently say that our home birth experience was one of the greatest gifts my wife ever gave me. It transformed my perspective on fatherhood, teamwork, and the sacredness of our home.

Fulfilling Your Internal Archetype of "the Father"

I vividly remember the moment my perspective began to shift. It was in our bedroom, with my wife going through contractions and intense labor. This experience ignited a fire within me, making me feel like her protector and caregiver. But I wasn't alone. We had a team of angels right there with us – the midwives from Seven Cities. Their presence was reassuring, and they ensured my wife's safety every step of the way.

We were not just spectators in this process; we were active participants. My wife and I dictated what we wanted to do during each phase, and the midwives provided support and wisdom. This sense of protector, established before the baby was even born, introduced our child to a world of safety and security.

The most innate fraternal voice within me fiercely initiated when we realized my wife needed a transfer to the hospital. Thanks to the wisdom and experience of Seven Cities, I was able to stay clear-headed, three steps ahead of the situation. This allowed my wife to feel peace even during a potentially critical moment. It made me realize that fatherhood is not about shouting orders but leaning on your partner, your community, and coming up with the best plan for your new family.

Going Through Something Hard Together with Autonomy

The home birth experience was a journey filled with challenges and moments that tested our strength as a couple. One such moment was when we heard clicking and cracking noises coming from our bed. It was clear that the bed frame was about to give out, and my wife had been on one side for too long. In that instant, we decided, together, to move to a safer spot. Working as a team with the midwives allowed us the freedom of movement in our own space, all while maintaining the comfort and privacy we needed.

The home birth didn't just strengthen our marriage; it fortified it. Trust was no longer just a word; it was a tangible, unshakable foundation for every decision and action we made together. The midwives knew our game plan, confirmed it on-site, and executed it like a team of Navy SEALs, but for home birth. Their presence and expertise made all the difference.

The Sacredness of Home

It's incredible how our perspective changed about our home being a sacred place of life. The presence of our own space, our belongings, and our family created an empowerment like no other. The faith we needed to thrive during the home birth was anchored in the power of our surroundings.

There's a spot on the right side of our bed, next to the headboard, where our child, Euli Sue Anderson, was born. Every day when my wife wakes up, I tell her, "You should be empowered, for you've accomplished one of the hardest things on Earth. Let that start your day."

The midwives were like architects and commissioners, engineering this sacred place. They asked us exactly what we wanted and needed while sharing their wisdom from experience. They initiated and executed steps with such a resolve that it was probably the greatest team effort I’ve ever witnessed. Without them in our home, we would have been scared and felt somewhat hopeless. Seven Cities instilled hope, comfort, and empowered us through a beautiful form of faith.

Transformative Experience

Our home birth journey transformed me from a skeptic into a believer. It showed me the incredible potential of home birth, the depth of fatherhood, the strength of teamwork, and the sacredness of our home. So, to all the husbands of prospective clients considering this journey, remember that the greatest gift your wife can give you may just be the one that takes place at home, surrounded by your loved ones and guided by dedicated midwives.

Embrace it. It's a transformative experience that will enrich your life in ways you never imagined. The home birth experience empowers couples, forges unbreakable bonds, and turns your home into a sanctuary of life and love.

Thank you for allowing me to share our story, and I hope it resonates with all of you considering this beautiful path to parenthood.
